Hot Topic: “Pro-Life” Christian Extremists Murder Abortion Doctor

If you haven’t already heard the news by now, an abortion doctor named Dr. George Tiller was gunned down on Sunday Morning at his church In Wichita, Kansas. According to details of one article, this was the latest, and unfortunately the most deadliest in a string of attacks by the so called “pro-lifers” on the doctor and his clinic. What made Tiller different then other abortion doctors is the fact that he is one of the few doctors in America that does late term abortions (after the 21st week of gestation). One article, featured here, states the following:
“A protester shot Tiller in both arms in 1993, and his clinic was bombed in 1985. More recently, Monnat said Tiller had asked federal prosecutors to step up investigations of vandalism and other threats against the clinic out of fear that the incidents were increasing and that Tiller’s safety was in jeopardy. Stolz, however, said police knew of no threats connected to the shooting.
In early May, Tiller had asked the FBI to investigate vandalism at his clinic, including cut wires to surveillance cameras and damage to the roof that sent rainwater pouring into the building.”
Of course, the reaction to the killing has been a very “politically correct one.” Both pro-choice and so called “pro-life” groups condemned the murder, and President Obama even made a statement about it. However, media coverage has said alot not just in the words that it used, but also in the words that it didn’t use. First, the very absurdity of throwing around such a empty and misleading label as “pro-life” will always give more credit to these groups then they deserve. The fact is, the groups are not pro-life, they are anti-abortion. If you were to ask many of these so called “pro-lifers” what their position on things such as war, or the death penalty (last time I checked, those things involved the loss of life too!) , they would be in support of it. But by masquerading as being “pro-life”, they attempt to dodge condemnation for their hypocrisy, while seeking some type of sympathy.
Secondly, if this crime had been committed by Muslims, just about every headline covering the story would bear resemblance to the following: “Muslim Extremists (or Terrorists) commit an act of murder (or terrorism).” However, because America is a white, “Christian” nation, there is a different set of words that is reserved for their actions, in comparison to others. Because of this, I will be posting up dictionary in the near future that will allow readers to decipher through the misleading words and phrases that we are constantly barraged with.
And of course, as the caption at the top of the article shows, the actions of the murders represent a significant portion of the beliefs of the American population. I recall, many of these same types were using Christianity to justify the bombing and invasion of Iraq. So no matter what condemnations will be uttered, half of them are going to be flat out lies (especially from conservatives and so called “pro-life” groups). Since these folks are so good at throwing around Bible verses, perhaps they should take a look at Romans 12:19-21. Perhaps then, they would actually start acting Christlike for once.
I agree with that about if it were a muslim, the whole story would be projected in a completely different light. All I can say is that guy was a crazy mo-fo.
First of all, is that a church or a bowling alley? Maybe a burger joint? It looks like you will pan down and see a drive-thru window. Can I get a side of Jesus with my #2–no mustard, extra pickles.
Second, I LOVE the distinction between “pro-life” and “anti-abortion”! That will immediately become a part of my vernacular.
Last, the left has got to stop getting pushed around by these people. There has been some vocal opposition to the right on these issues, but not organized and certainly with limited effectiveness. It would be nice to see a stronger opposition and a more balance public debate.
